Sara began her career as an elementary math and computer teacher and went on to teach math and ESL in both independent and public schools in the U.S. and abroad (Japan, Thailand and Mexico). She served as the Middle School Director and Assistant Head of School at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Day School in San Mateo, California, Director of Curriculum for the Exploration High School program at Yale University, and Director of the Cambridge-Harvard Summer Academy.

As a child, Sara moved between traditional public, progressive and Montessori schools, and her doctoral research examined the intersection of alternative education methods (including Montessori) and government-mandated standards and testing. As a member of the NCMPS founding team and director, Sara works collaboratively on the vision, mission and strategy of NCMPS.

In her role as the Director of Coaching and School Services, Sara leads a team of instructional and implementation coaches directly supporting schools and practitioners. This work includes school start-up from conception through opening day, on-going leadership and instructional coaching, a full array of professional development offerings, and school evaluation, improvement and strategic planning.

Sara received a B.A. in Psychology from Williams College, an MAT in ESL from the School for International Training, an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and an Ed.D. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
