The University of Delaware is hosting a live DERS/MEFS training. Schools or organizations interested in taking part can register at the link below or contact DERS Coordinator Michelle Boyle at ders@public-montessori.org.
DERS: The Developmental Environment Rating Scale (DERS) is a classroom observation tool which measures qualities such as patience and persistence in children, precision and clarity in lessons, and order in the environment, which support the development of executive functions, literacy, and social-emotional learning.
MEFS: The Minnesota Executive Function Scale (MEFS) is a companion tool which assesses executive function in children of all ages.
Training: The live training session explains the research behind the DERS and the MEFS, orients users to the tools, and guides them through a series of video observations. Participants learn to identify, evaluate, and record classroom indicators which support development, and to administer the MEFS assessment.
Registration: Registration is $1,000 per school or organization, and includes DERS and MEFS training for unlimited number of participants, DERS Certification for up to five people, and 25 per-child MEFS licenses. For more information and registration, visit www.ders-app.org.
